Ruben Smits (1991) studied choir conducting at Utrecht Conservatory, Vocal Leadership at Rotterdam, Tilburg and Aalborg (DK) Conservatories and MA Musicology at Utrecht University.

As a conductor, he relates to many different musical genres, ranging from vocal pop and jazz to classical music. As one of the most frequently performed choir arrangers of the Netherlands, he has written several hundreds of vocal arrangements for all voicings, commissioned by a.o. BRIS (Norway), Dutch Student Chamber Choir, male vocal ensemble Olga (Netherlands), Rise Up (Belgium), Chor Unität (Germany) and Quarinthia (Austria).

Also, he teaches choir conducting and arranging at the Ward Swingle Summer Course, Dirigentenwerkplaats Utrecht and other places. Lastly, he is former Youth Committee-member of European Choral Association - Europa Cantat and music editor of several choir music songbooks.
